{try-me tuesday} — the autumn glory apple

i had no idea there were so many varieties of apples.

autumn glory is my new favourite kind of apple. ever heard of it?!  better yet, have you tried one?!?!

i know for sure you can find them at whole foods market in the late fall and early winter. they can linger into late january or february depending on the supplier.  the autumn glory apples are firm in flesh, as the site suggests.  i find them to be perfectly crisp and sweet with a mild caramel undertone…

yes, caramel apple flavour… amazing.

they pair absolutely wonderfully with a good robusto cheese or something like my all-time favourite, parano.

i bet they would be delicious baked…

    I want to try that! My favorite apples are Pink Lady apples. And my favorite cheese is manchego!

      pink lady does rule. i LOVE manchego!! that’s a good anytime cheese, goes with everything!!

    My favorite are honey crisp but i will keep an eye out for these, although it seems like i might have missed the window 😦

      honey crisp ARE amazing. these have a similar “crispness” but less tart than a honey crisp. if you live near a wfm, i know you can still get them…
