{tiny tuesday – have you ever been THE FIRST at anything?!}
15 Octi have never been THE FIRST at anything… at least not to my knowledge…
i mean, i have lots of original photographs i’ve captured… many of which may be the “only” of their kind… but i’ve never really been the FIRST at anything i’ve done… until now.
i am the first and only person to live in this new mini home. now, i’m not fortunate enough to own this lovely home, but i am the first person to officially reside in it – on gorgeous private property with a river in my backyard and endless hills surrounding every corner. it feels pretty incredible to be the first person to live here. i’m grateful to have met the builder last year… we remained in contact and he updated me on the home this summer, when it was just about complete. everything sort of fell into place, guiding me to these hills and to this home. i’m taking it all one day at a time and just soaking up each gloriously relaxing moment in my new environment… and one thing i love about living here – I SLEEP SO GREAT!
when i wrote about my visit in september was when i fell in love and knew i had to follow my heart to the rocky mountains…

22 Sephey everyone, happy sunday. and happy first day of autumn!!
this is my favey-fav season, and not just because i was born in it 😉 but i do tend to thrive in autumn… i love the colours of course, and the calming down from summer, snuggling and cozying in and slowing down… i just love all that autumn brings along with it.
i’m just relaxing and enjoying my half-caff americano* and was thinking about how many blogs i want to catch up on.
*{that reminds me of this funny thing that happened and i took a foto of it}

my life has shifted so drastically in the month of september, that i just haven’t had time to keep up with the blog like i wanted to. plus – a huge rebirthing is in order here at foodandfoto.com. on a personal level, i have grown and “re-birthed” on my own so much, that it’s only fitting the blog shifts along with me. i’m not exactly sure what that will look like yet, but do stay tuned – some big changes are on the way! this delightful minimalist house isn’t quite complete – a few final touches are still in the works from the amazing builder… but as promised, here are some fotos of the interior. and i will share more soon, and even more down the road… when it’s fully complete and decorated inside!

{foto friday – minimalist lifestyle : the cutest tiny home ever.}
13 Sepi love a minimalist lifestyle.
ever since i sold all my stuff and moved to NYC in 2008, the idea of a minimalist lifestyle started to appeal to me more and more. as years have progressed, i’ve found myself actually downsizing even more. it’s very liberating to be able to fit everything you own into a 5-piece suitcase set and the back of your subaru.

i’ll have a story to tell soon behind this little house… for now, i just want to share the fotos of where i stayed on vacation last weekend on the beautiful western slope of the rocky mountains. this home sits on private property with the roaring hills steps away, as its backyard. i am not certain of the square footage, but it i’m guessing it’s around 300, including the loft. the living space is maybe 200 square-feet? but it is so well-designed, one still feels open within the space. plus, all you have to do is open the door and you’re in the biggest open-space ever… 😀
i just fell in love with this place.

6 Sepi’m taking a much-needed long weekend and heading up the rocky mountains for a little getaway. i’m hoping to gain some inspiration, clarity, peace, and get a little rejuvenated. i may have some exciting news to share upon my return, as well 🙂

{foto friday} — a perfect autumn wedding
26 Octi told you how i fotographed a wedding a couple weekends ago, right?! well, i’m still processing the 1300 raw images i shot, but i wanted to share a few of my favourites for foto friday. i am beyond blessed to have met this woman. she is a soul sister and i immediately knew when we met that we were going to be close friends. it can be a little nerve-wracking to mix business with pleasure, but i have found i work better when fotographing events for people i know. in this case it was beyond easy. first of all, the bride is STUNNING! she looked like an egyptian goddess this day. and she just put me at ease. the entire wedding was basically HAND MADE from the flowers to the cake to the beer. hosted in coal creek canyon’s eldora lodge – complete with crackling fireplace, snowfall, hot tubs, an incredible host staff, and tons of love and laughter. i have never been to such a wedding. i will never forget this day, it was so special to me in a very unique way…
so, here are a few of my favourite images.
i did mention how it rained like, 4 times that day?! i’ll share the shots i was able to snag in good light! 🙂
