i just returned from a {much needed} camping trip with a special friend and i can’t wait to share more fotos from this awesome desert landscape! ❤
hope you all enjoy your weekend!
i totally fell in love… with this great little town… paonia. i actually considered moving there before i moved to my little neck of the mountains… but i hadn’t yet visited and i’m super glad i had the opportunity to this week! i had heard that there were farms up in paonia where you could pick your own produce for a nominal fee… and obviously – i was all over that!
the season for peaches is almost over, but orchard valley farms still had plenty of trees to harvest from! i had never done anything like this, it was quite the experience! ❤
i left my camera at home, because this was sort of an impromptu trip… but i had the trusty iphone.
hehehee {not a real person, but totally fooled me!} 😛
entrance to the garden and grove… {those are “peach pickers”}
peach trees galore!
ladder to pick the really big ones at the top!
like this! 😀
sipping wine and picking peaches… what a day!
pumpkins! {no pickin’ pumpkins, though!}
no picking wine grapes either… but the merlot/cabernet blend from black ridge winery was just wonderful!
then i spotted this door on the way out… 🙂
enjoy the weekend!
oh how i wish i could dig my toes in the warm sand right now… inhale the ocean air and feel the breezy salty mist on my face… listen to the crash of the ocean waves and the peaceful sound of the ebb and flow of the water… i’m desperately seeking a rendezvous with the big blue! ❤
what have you been daydreaming about?! have an awesome weekend!
… i took this kickass foto…. that i just love. ❤
{oh – and it rained like, a ton!}
… i was housesitting, and this awesome little chicken was one of eleven that i had the fortune of feeding and watching while the owners were away… they are so cool!
… i had this for breakfast : a sausage & cheese croissant roll, two flax seed chocolate brownie muffins, and my trusty half caff americano {with a little cream}…
… i totally saw this dead snake in the road………. oddly, the first one i’ve seen at all since moving here.
… i made my famous morning smoothie………… a few times 😉
… i looked up at the sky.
… i took a silly selfie on the bus and tried to be all discreet but made myself look even sillier… 😛
… i harvested these absolutely beautiful organic cherry tomatoes and some mixed baby greens from the garden outside of the house i was sitting…
{so grateful!}
… and i added in shredded chicken, olives, cucumbers, sharp cheddar, red onion, and dressed it in a french vinaigrette… YUM!
… i saw like, four billion ants………… i wonder what they were all working on…
… i saw these carrot-tops poking through a cute little community garden…
… i ordered and devoured an entire 12 inch pizza called the “BLT” from my favourite local spot… it’s seriously like eating a blt on a round pizza pie : “crispy bacon, smoked provolone, garlic, onion & house-made sundried tomato pesto topped with shredded leaf lettuce tossed in our famous house-made ranch” it’s one unique and delicious pizza. they serve the lettuce and fixins’ on the side so you can dress it by adding the lettuce topping at the end. it is AHH-MAZING! one of my favourite pizzas, for sure!!!!

happy sunday!
and, always be sure to eat a lot of {healthy, colourful} food and take a lot of {awesome} fotos!! 😉 ❤
i get on these kicks where i think i have all the free time in the world to constantly be making my own food… particularly, easy snacks. i’m such a label-reader, that i’ll look at the ingredients and be like, “i can make that!” 😛
this time, it was granola.
i had a gigantic container of organic rolled oats sitting around, waiting to be turned into breakfast vitamix cookies, but i kept forgetting to buy jelly! so as i was grocery shopping the other day, it came to me. “dude, audrey – you should totally make your own granola!” what inspired this was my other new favourite obsession right now – yoghurt. i know it’s nothing new to a lot of you, but i never much cared for yoghurt and suddenly – just like sauerkraut, and eggs – i can’t seem to get enough yoghurt. so – i was completely stoked when i saw my favourite brand, noosa had introduced a coconut flavour!!! holy smokes dude. AHH–MAZING! and i love noosa because they use milk from pasture-based cows. LOVE THAT!
anyway, to bring it all full circle, i was like, “self, you should just buy some coconut flakes {super cheap} and use some pantry items to create your own granola to compliment this amazing yoghurt discovery!” {sometimes i do talk to myself like that} and so i did it – i bought some organic coconut flakes for about $2.00 and had the rest of the ingredients at home. as per usual, i didn’t exactly measure – so i don’t have an actual recipe for you, but if i can wing it, you can wing it! 😉
ORGANIC HOMEMADE COCONUT FLAX GRANOLA :
– rolled oats
– maple syrup
– vanilla extract
– coconut oil
– flax seeds
– coconut flakes Continue reading
a little recipe from the archives – and a totally delicious way to celebrate the holiday!
enjoy the weekend, friends! 😎
the house is coming along nicely. it looks really cute and i can’t wait to see it when it’s complete. watching it being built has me dreaming of having my own actual mobile tiny house someday… and i hope to make that happen!
for now, i am enjoying living in this great tiny home and watching one being built right next door – pretty sweet stuff!
here are some more fotos of the project, still currently underway…

DAY FIVE
😉
by the way, later that day… this happened :
i couldn’t run out to grab a foto of the tiny house because that would be crazy, so this will have to suffice 😉

DAY SIX:
everyone knows i love to support local. and obviously i’m totally down with the all-natural. however, you may be surprised to discover that i love ginger ale. i mean i LOVE IT! almost as much as i love beer… almost.
saisons are some of my favourite kinds of beer. when i worked for whole foods in new york city, we had a beer room! i was going to link you, to show it off to you guys – but apparently it closed! i can’t believe it!… it’s hard to imagine what it looks like or what’s there now. life is weird like that – how stuff changes…
i digress.
when i worked at that awesome store, the beer room had a local contest for homebrewers – and the winner got to put their beer on one of our taps! the winner was a saison, farmhouse ale. it was, and maybe to this day still is, one of the BEST beers i have ever tried if not my favourite beer i’ve ever tried. and, i gotta tell ya – i’ve tried quite a few beers. this saison 88 from santa fe brewing company reminded me a lot of that delicious homebrew i had in ol’ NYC some 5 years ago now. i remember it well, though. it stayed with me… one remembers a really good beer.
this is one colourful dish! and fun to eat, too!
simple ingredients :
– 1 pound organic grass-fed beef {i choose 85%}
– 1/2 pound fingerling potatoes {any potato will do, i just had leftovers}
– 1 medium shallot
– handful sugar snap peas, shelled
– organic shredded cheese of choice {i went with cheddar}
i saw this somewhere on the web recently and i’ve been so eager to try it. i mean – isn’t is so apropo for food & foto? simple, easy, delicious, and healthy!
two ingredients: {3 if you decide to sprinkle cheese on top…}
– 1 ripe avocado
– 1 medium egg Continue reading

it’s like, the beer for fotographers.
and it is soooooo good!!! 😀
when i first spotted this at my local liquor store, i literally squealed, and then immediately grabbed my phone to take a picture. are you kidding?! i mean, you know they’re my absolute favourite, right?! and you know i’m a fotographer, right?! …
i didn’t buy it right away because i was walking… but then just yesterday, as i was having brunch with one of my girlfriends, i totally got to try it on tap!!!!
it is SO DELICIOUS!! super cloudy and blonde, definitely a true wheat beer… full of flavour but not over-the-top strong. it went down like orange juice, and so i had to have another… i am eager to try it from the bottle as well. and then, i’ll take a food-and-foto style pic of it 😉
ohhh, new belgium – you never fail me.
cheers!
so, i randomly and spontaneously my have potentially found my new favourite restaurant. the charming place is called town. and the period is part of the title, so don’t forget it. 😉 if the rumour that their menu changes up frequently is in fact accurate, i may make it official. in the meantime, here is what i had for lunch the other day with a friend.
maple-braised pork belly with caramelized onions, pear, and bacon bits on a bed of brussel sprout leaves… and my favourite thing we ordered — it was just heavenly!
rabbit tacos with some kind of amazing salsa and a creamy mild cheese… shredded carrots, pepitas, scallions, and some other deliciousness. and hey – don’t judge me.
shrimp po’ boy… done a little differently, but still good. shrimp was super tasty as well as the homemade sweet potato chips, and the perfectly dill/sweet combo pickles were also excellent.
i tell ya one thing – i cannot wait to go back for dinner!!!!!!! 😀
aaannnnd, i really want to take pictures of/for them!
